It's been over ten years since my dad killed my mom and himself. I knew from news stories that men kill their wives, but i've never actaully met or talked to anyone who was the surviving child. I am now 17 and am really confused about my parents. I miss my mom so much, i idolize her, but i don't hate my father. Just wondering if there was another teen or anyone who has been through the same. THanks,TEXTTEXT

Dear BrownEyedGirl, I'm so sorry about your parents. When you look at the statistics on the Internet, inter-family murder is the most common kind, by that I mean murders where 1 family member kills another family member. I was 24 when my Mom murdered my Dad. She was mentally ill and was found incompetent to go to trial. She never got better and died 7 years later. I felt hate for her at times, but I also felt love for her and still do. I just didn't want to have an in-person relationship with her again. I hope this board will be of help to you and am glad you found it. If I can be of any other help please let me know. Take care.

Hello browneyedgirl!
You have been through a lot in your short time here on this earth. 7 years old when you lost both of your parents! So, who raised you? Where you there when your father did this?
I'm so sorry this happened to you!

I lost my 37 year old daughter Patti at the hands of her 35 year old sister Chris, so I really lost both of them in a second of time. Chris the 35 year old is bi-polar and has severe fibromyalgia and was on 6 medications at the time she shot her sister and her father and was going to shoot me but her father got shot taking the gun away from her. I understand your hurt and pain and wish I could make it go away. But I do not have that power but know I care very much about you. I have no words of wisdom to give you except I understand what it feels like to have a family member be the one to do the killing.

Oh my God Jeni, I feel what you are saying, I now understand somewhat, what you are saying to browneyedgirl. We have just came out of a case, but the same guy that killed my grandson, years earlier killed his sister, he also has been diagonoised with mental illness.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but can I ask you where your daughter is now, andwhat state you are in? If you don't want to answer this, I will understand.
