Hi. Although I have not had a murder in my family, my best friend has - a particularly brutal crime - her cousin murdered his mother and father in their home. I have been looking around on this website and am amazed at the similar feelings shared by all of you and that is why I felt compelled to tell you about a book she has written. It was just published and I am convinced it is a must read for anyone who has survived homicide because it seems to give voice to so much of what I see here. It is told from the point of view of a family member and it shows how victims are victimized again by the justice system. It is a really good story and I think one a lot of people on this board will relate to. If you are interested, go to publishamerica.com. The title is Surviving Murder.

Hi Joyce -
The law everywhere in regards to incompetency and insanity is screwed up. In my case, he was incompetent for 9 years which is why it took so long to go to trial, but luckily, in the end, the jury found him guilty. I firmly believe that what we need is a "guilty by insanity" law across all the states so that people cannot use insanity as an excuse to kill and get away with it.
Best, Linda
