Fourteen months and 14 days ago, my best friend Michelle was murdered by her husband. I was on this board often, and this it got me through some hard times. This week we went through the trial. It was worse then we thought. Her sister and I were allowed in the courtroom even though we were witnesses. He stabbed her 58 times. 38 of them were fatal alone. She sat bleeding in a chair, alive for at least a few moments. He then laid her on the floor and covered her with a blanket "so he didn't have to look at her" and stabbed her 17 more times to the back. Most of her wounds were to her back and the back of her head. They couldn't take a blood sample from her because she had no blood left. Twelve wounds were inflicted after she was dead. Those are the facts, now for the better news. Seymour Townsend was convicted today of first degree murder by reason of premeditation and extreme atrocity or cruelty. He was sentenced to life with no possibility of parole. The case will be outlined at www.berkshireeagle.com. Michelle's beautiful website is at Michelle-Padgett.virtual-memorials.com. Thank you all for your support throughout this year. I am tired, drained, emotional, but finally have the feeling that I can let my guard down and rest. One more monster off the street.

I'm so glad that the trial is over for you and you received the verdict that you were hoping for. What an atrocious man Seymour Townsend is...I'm glad he'll never be a free man again. Thanks for letting us know the outcome of the trial.

Dear Acavana, congratulations! You got the best possible outcome besides the death penalty. The system worked in your case and I'm glad it did! I'm glad that we were here for you and know that we'll continue to be. Take care.

Thank you all for your replies... It's like... where do you go to vent. I always come here. I felt bad posting what I saw because I know that its awful and maybe I should just keep it in...but I have learned, when I needed to tell someone who would understand, come here, and once again this site came through. As ironic as it is,I now work for my local newspaper as a circulation manager, and had to be in court with coworkers who were there to see it all, and my reaction. But, as most of you all know...You can see it,and see someone else feeling it, but unless you have been there, you never truely know how it all feels. This site and you all mean so much to me, and I am greatful for all of the replies from people who I have seen before. To all of the newcomers, I am so sorry that you are here to share in it all... But if it has to be, this is a good place for support. Thank you all so much again!
