Liz, you have been through so much. First you lose your sister, then your Dad and your little boy was early. I hope everything is fine with your son. You have had a lot to deal with in a fairly short amount of time.
I am sorry for the loss of your sister. Domestic violence is such an ugly thing. I've been through escaping from an abusive spouse and it isn't easy or pretty. I thank G-d every single day that I was able to find the courage to leave and that I still breathe. He went on to ruin another woman and child's life.
I've been here for quite a while and I can honestly say those days when I needed an ear, understanding or simply to vent, everyone here has helped me in some way. This is the greatest place to be for me - I have undergone much healing here.
Just wanted to say Welcome.

Liz,
Welcome to the board. I am not the most frequent poster here, but I do respond when it seems fitting. This is one of those times.
I lost my Mother to domestic violence in November of 1971. For 13 years prior to her death, we all died little deaths daily at the hands of the perpetrator, Stepmonster.
It is difficult to understand how someone who can purport to love another can take their life along with your happiness away. Our culture teaches us that family members are supposed to love each other. Oh, how I wish they always did that.
I welcome you here and want you to know that I am here if you ever need a shoulder. Look in my profile for Yahoo/AIM for instant messaging "handles" or private message me. Any way you choose to contact me, I will answer.
