Moved over from the old board:
Hello Everbody,
It has been a long time since I posted an article. I would like to reintroduce myself. My name is Melissa Buchanan and my brother was murdered on October 21, 2000. Four monsters participated in the murder of my brother, Marvin Charles Prater. They were sentenced on September 20, 2002; we did not go to trial, they all plea bargained. Only one of the four actually struck our Charlie with the baseball bat, the other three watched and helped to rob him.
One of the four is coming up in front of the parole board in August. She has already been denied three times when she came in front of the county judge for shock probation, she will now come up in front of the state parole board. Because she is housed in a county jail, she will not get a hearing, the decision will be based on the file review. This woman's name is Sarah Smith. Ms. Smith doesn't think that she has done anything wrong. She doesn't believe that watching my brother being murdered, spending his money and washing his blood from the murderers clothing is wrong. She believes that because she turned the crime into the authorities four days later that she should be shown leniency, she only did this because she found out that Charlie had been reported missing and that the authorities were looking for her car because Charlie was last seen in her car. There were no innocent bystanders in the murder of my brother. Ms. Smith provided the transportation, knowing that they were taking Charlie to rob him, she stood right there when Charlie was being beaten and then went and partied that night, on his money. Without Ms. SMith's cooperation, this crime might have been prevented. If she would have turned the crime in earlier, Charlie's life could have been saved, it has been found that Charlie lived for at least twenty-four hours. Ms. Smith got off easy when she was only sentenced to five years in prison, and she is not even going to a state prison, she is staying in a county jail.
I will need all the help that I can get to be able to effectively protest parole. Please help to support Charlie by sending emails to the state parole board here in Kentucky. The email address is: Mesha.Rogers@mail.state.ky.us The inmate information is: Sarah Smith, #162079-CD. Thank you once again and please send a CC mail of the letter so I can keep a file.
Once again, I thank all of you in advance. I have discovered that a battle is not won by a single person.
Sincerely,
Melissa Buchanan
