National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims is this Saturday, September 25, 2010 POMC has their announcement on their front page www.pomc.org/This is the link to the announcement of the official ceremony in Washington DC dayofremembrance.eventbrite.com/This event honors the lives of those taken by violence; publicly recognizes the impact of homicide on their surviving family members and friends; and pays tribute to those organizations that work with and provide services to survivors of homicide victims. Remember. Remind. Respect. When I googled, I found many announcements of ceremonies in many cities. Perhaps there is one in yours. Please feel free to post any notices of local events that you wish. There may be others reading here who are from the same areas. And please remember to light a candle for murder victims on Saturday, and share with others. We know it is not always someone else. Janet

Thanks for posting this!! I will light a candle!! In my county on November 19th Justice For Citizens is having the 15th annual Memorial Service for Victims of Crime. I went last year and plan to attend every year to represent my husband's family. I went alone last year and probably will go alone every year, until my son is old enough to go. They do a slide show with pictures, names and dates of death of all Murder Victims in the county. They hand out candles for everyone to light. At one point they call out the name of each Murder Victim and a family member or friend can go to the front of the church and place a rose at the altar to honor the Victim. It really is a beautiful ceremony.
