Dear debbie71, I'll answer this fully when I have time. Unfortunately, you're running across something too many MVS have to deal with.

Yes as Pumpkin said, its something a lot of us encounter. My strategy was to just ignore. I tried calling people on their BS but it led nowhere, and made me look crazy in the end. Just take a deep breath, know that you and your brother know the truth about people and let it go.

Yes as Pumpkin said, its something a lot of us encounter. My strategy was to just ignore. I tried calling people on their BS but it led nowhere, and made me look crazy in the end. Just take a deep breath, know that you and your brother know the truth about people and let it go. Dear Melody, this is what I was going to say to Debbie71... . As an MVS, there's going to be people that you just can't reach. There's also going to be 1's that you do reach! I've learned also DON'T get on their level. Not long ago at my job there was 1 ###*** joking about the TV show "Snapped". Unfortunately, a few others joined in with the laughing. "Snapped" is a series about women who murder. The 1 who started the talk was laughing and saying: that show gives me great ideas! It's great at telling you how to get rid of your spouse! Hearing this I was literally shaking with anger and disgust. BUT, because of the setting, I didn't say a word. I didn't want to disrupt the work of those who weren't joining in with this WONDERFUL, FAIR, CARING talk (sarcasm helps me cope when talking about this evil ###***). When I calmed down later I thought of how badly these people need to be educated about MVS and thought why not go that way? Give them some of my writing or something like that? This is something I plan to do in the long run. I WON'T get on their level and start screaming, swearing, disrupting the whole environment, etc. The truth is some like these that's what they WANT. They can then run with it and say: see how those MVS are! This fits in with their cruel tactlessness they already have. You can see how Melody has learned also to NOT get on their level. This is something that many MVS run into, unfortunately, and to hear how others handle it and have their support will help you with it. There ARE those that MVS reach, thank God, so I say never think that all or even the majority don't care, can't be reached, etc. But also know there are these 1's who don't care, have contempt for MVS, etc., and it's likely you'll run into them also. Thanks to Melody for speaking up also on this issue!

I think Pumpkin nailed it....education. People really do not know or comprehend until they are in our shoes. It "appears" it is easy for others to joke about murder, shootings, guns, etc if they haven't lost a loved one to murder.

Chelle25 -- it might make us feel better (not that it would really help change anything) if we all started wearing buttons that say "murder is not entertainment" and sending out postcards with the same saying. I have both.......

you are so right.....even if it didn't change anything...it is a good way to defend muder victims. i was sickened by one episode of " i almost got away with it" & one murderer they were interviewing said he was leaving a bar when he saw someone he had a fight with before, he said he went up behind the guy & hit him in the head with a baseball bat, killing the man. The murderer then stated he didn't feel bad & used the words " he had it coming.
